Attorney for Garner in alleged rape

*Warning:  a little graphic.  May trigger.*

As I was reading this, I immediately felt pain for the woman making the rape charge.  Bu I have to question if Rubenstein is a target by the NYPD because of his being a thorn in their side.

It shouldn’t make any difference.  If he is guilty of this, then he needs to face up to what he has done and serve time.  Good Grief, if this is true…it’s just mindboggling that he could be such a defender of civil rights…and yet fail to see that having intercourse with a woman without her lucid, passionate “yes” is a violation of  her civil rights.  She cannot give lucid consent when under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.  As an attorney, he would know this.Yes means Yes.You don’t have the “yes”?  Then you don’t shove your dick or any other object into her. Period.

Domestic abuse without raising a hand…

Order of the White Feather has a sobering post up on using technology to continually abuse and control a partner seeking to get away from her abuser.  It is just astounding that someone could think up this sh*t (probably an abuser himself), and then be able to sell it without worry of prosecution.

The companies market the tools as “safety features” to monitor your kids….it always starts out that way–marketed for something good when it’s used for something evil.  I don’t buy mSpy’s assertion that they have no knowledge or responsibility for their product being used for abuse.

Here’s why:

MSpy has a step-by-step guide — with screenshots — on how to download the app onto an iPhone or Android device, how to activate it, and then how to delete any visible trace of it. It’ll just hang out in a hidden folder, with a nondescript name like “Android.sys.”

~~~~~~~~
Why would you need to hide it if you were using it for innocent reasons?  I don’t understand the parents-as-stalkers mindset, either.  Good Grief, the poor children with such controlling parents, monitoring every single thing they do!  Suffocating.
And the online banking thing…one of the reasons I will not do it is because of security.  I had to close my free account recently because the bank insisted on a $500 balance, or I could switch to online banking and not deal with the humans at all (putting another person out of work is not my idea of doing unto others as I would have done to me…).
This story drives that point home–no matter how much they would like to assure us that technology = security…the facts speak differently.  Paper is still more secure, with less ability of someone gaining access to information that is none of their business.
And in this case, someone’s life depends on it.
In this rape culture, women are still seen as extensions of men.  As objects to be owned and possessed.  The domestic abuse represents that sense of  entitlement.
Israel seeking to cash in on destruction
If I am reading between the lines correctly, Israel is now seeking to cash in on the destruction it caused to Gaza.  My mind is just reeling. Disaster capitalism at the very worst.  Holy crap.
Yair Lapid announced a “diplomatic initiative” to increase efforts to “demilitarise Gaza and the transfer of authority in the Gaza Strip to the Palestinian Authority (PA) while maintaining Israel’s strategic security interest.”
He called for Egypt to host a conference to be attended by the US, EU, Russia, Jordan, the PA and the Gulf States that would discuss Gaza reconstruction and establish “economic ties between Israel, the Palestinian Authority and the Arab world.”
“The initiative also calls for the involvement of states which will provide economic support for the rehabilitation of the Gaza Strip and the creation of projects which will lead to long term economic cooperation in the region,” the statement from Lapid’s media advisor said –
So…we have a bully that bombs the hell out of a place, destroying homes, schools, hospitals…killing women, children, innocents sitting in a cafe listening to the World Cup…who now wants to greedily make a profit off of rebuilding that which they destroyed.
Are you effing kidding me??  WTH?
The writer is perpetuating the lie that Saudi Arabia supported the destruction of Gaza, when King Abdullah made a strong statement to the contrary, and he accused Israel of war crimes.
So I would be surprised if Saudi Arabia would go along with Israel’s scheme.
This also lends credence to Palestinian claims that Israel had no intention on seeking agreement with Gaza on their demands and that they walked away from the negotiating table while Palestinian negotiators were still attempting to reach agreement.  Israel has had other plans all along.
And, as a side note~~~I read that a senior Hamas official’s wife and 7-month-old baby were killed in an assassination attempt.  While I don’t agree with Hamas violence, I do feel for the people of Gaza.  I am so sorry.
If I could, I would help you rebuild with sustainable housing where you could live without worry of being dependent on Israel.  Perhaps earthships would work for you…sustainable housing with water, solar heating, and the ability to grow your food….
The fallout in Ferguson
When I saw the video on MSNBC Friday of Michael Brown stealing from a store, and shoving the clerk by the throat…and then threatening him with more of it…I had to take a step back.  I knew that if I came on here, I would say something I’d regret because I feel that I was played for a chump.
And then I hear on the news yesterday morning that they trashed the convenience store that Michael stole cigars from.
Outrageous.  Now the owner of the store has been victimized again.  Does he/she deserve that?
I watched Melissa Harris-Perry this morning, and got upset again.  I know this is close to home for her, but to deny Michael’s criminal behavior and how that played a roll in what happened is disingenuous. She insisted that people’s rights were being violated by the curfew.  Don’t the people who own businesses there also deserve to be protected?  They are not saying folks cannot protest at all–they are protesting during the day.  With the looting, I feel the curfew is justified.  No matter how angry you are, that does not give you the right to steal.  Nor is being poor give you a right to steal.  I can speak to that because I’m poor and been on food stamps, so I’ve felt the sting of people’s prejudice.
It upsets me…especially because of what happened to me in Fort Wayne.  Flashbacks of how I was essentially shunned by the black folk in the building after reporting the harassment of one of the black men.  He was evicted.  Others came forward after I filed my report–other women….black women–were also intimidated and harassed by him.  Some of them just accepted it as “just the way things are” and refused to file a report (probably afraid she would be shunned).  Another black lady whom had run the cafeteria reduced cost meal program was intimidated by him so much that she just gave him free food.  I suspect that the other black folk came down on her for speaking out–she left not six months after the guy was evicted.  The others didn’t care what this guy had done–and that disturbs me to this day.
I now question the validity of Michael’s friend who was with him when he robbed the convenience store…he should have come forward with this information from the start.  The fact that he and everyone else kept it hidden speaks volumes.
Do I think the officer was justified in shooting Michael multiple times? Hell no.
We have yet to hear what happened, but if the officer was in fear of his life, that is the only justification.   The convenience store video lends credibility to the officer stating that Michael struck him, causing his face to swell.  And perhaps he was trying to get the officer’s gun…I’m not as inclined to believe Michael’s friend’s account of what happened.
I’m hoping that in the coming weeks, we get at the truth.
