FDA condones drug pushers…and Big Pharma worse than Somali pirates…

…drug pushers that are also known as Big Pharma:

While trying to come up with some facts on the number of deaths due to legal prescription drugs that are taken as prescribed and although this wasn’t exactly what I was looking for, it comes close.  I kept finding references to “drug overdose”  and I think that term kind of turns attention and blame towards the person prescribed the drug instead of Big Pharma, the doctors, and the FDA, which turns its head the other way…

We have a hysteria now over measles and vaccinations when hundreds of thousands of people are dying from prescriptions.  Where’s the hysteria over this?

Again, I have to go to foreign media to get this apt characterization:

Well, you know…a long time ago, in a land far, far away…we used to have universities that were supported by federal tax dollars.  This enabled them to do research without being influenced by corporate benefactors like, say, Monsanto, Dow, Syngenta, Glaxo-Smith-Kline, Merck, and so on…

This meant that the research coming out was not steered towards an outcome that benefited the corporate donors worth billions of dollars.

Reblogging this when this morning’s news reports of a doctor being convicted for prescribing LEGAL painkillers. Story here: http://news.yahoo.com/california-doctor-convicted-overdose-deaths-3-patients-223448962.html

This completely absolves the pharmaceutical companies of their guilt in creating drugs that are addictive…they KNOW they are addictive, and it creates a customer for life. I do not want doctors being made to bear the entire responsibility. It’s yet another attempt to interfere with a patient’s right to choose their own medical care. My Dad was in a lot of pain the last few days of his life and I do not want anyone in that position to be deprived of comfort from pain relief. If you recall, I had to ask for my Dad to receive more pain medication — likening it to the line from the movie “Terms of Endearment” where Shirley Maclaine yells “Give her the shot! Give her the shot!”
The responsibility lies mostly with Big Pharma. It’s about time they were hauled into court and held accountable.
